For the first time, fans got the chance to participate in the Pacific 10 Conference’s football media day, sending questions to the coaches and players on the podium by way of Twitter.

And they weren’t shy about jumping right in.

From the start, questions, including those for Washington State Coach Paul Wulff, came zipping in and most often came from hometown fans far from Los Angeles.

Television commentator Steve Physioc acted as moderator, posing the electronic queries from the back of the room.

At one point, Physioc announced that he had tweeted himself, in a public place no less, asking about Washington quarterback Jake Locker’s potential future in baseball as an Angel draft pick.

And Physioc wasn’t shy about making space among the questions from reporters. During a segment with UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel and linebacker Reggie Carter, he interjected: ‘We’re tweeting again.’
