Dodgers trade Claudio Vargas to Milwaukee

With less than three hours remaining until the 1 p.m. PDT nonwaiver trade deadline, the Dodgers sent pitcher Claudio Vargas to Milwaukee in exchange for minor-league catcher Vinny Rottino.

The move clears a roster spot for reliever George Sherrill, acquired yesterday from the Baltimore Orioles.
