No, Blake Griffin is not in Italy at the World Championships.

But through the marvels of Twitter, it’s possible to find out from here in Rome what the Clippers’ No. 1 draft choice has been doing with his time after hurting his shoulder in Summer League in Las Vegas. It is being called a strained right shoulder, and he is supposed to rest it for three to four weeks.

So it was a surprise for this reporter in Rome -- even through a jet-lagged fog and lack of morning coffee at the swim prelims -- to stumble upon his latest entries. You just never know what you’re going to find on Twitter. Tried to see what swimmer Dara Torres was doing but instead was snared by Griffin’s entry:

Griffin, about 16 hours ago: ‘goin to chill at the beach today. gonna catch some sick waves on my boogie board!!’

Then came this ‘update’ from Griffin about four hours later:

‘I was just playin about catching some waves. Beach was nice tho.’

At least he wasn’t with Andrew Bynum at the Playboy Mansion testing that shoulder.
