Baseball’s amateur draft has resumed today and is moving along quickly on its way to round 30. Cypress infielder David Nick, a UCLA signee, was taken in the fourth round by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Two other fourth-round selections were former San Fernando Valley high school products. Pitcher Jason Stoffel, who played at Agoura and Arizona, was taken by the San Francisco Giants. Outfielder Angelo Songco, who played at Mission Hills Alemany and Loyola Marymount, went to the Dodgers.

UCLA first baseman Casey Haerther was taken by the Angels with the final pick of the fifth round. El Toro pitcher Aaron Wirsch went in the seventh round to the Baltimore Orioles.
