You don’t want to tangle with Washington big man Jon Brockman on the court.

It might be a worse idea to tangle with him off the court.

Before last Saturday’s rivalry game against Washington State, a Wazzu student tried to to wake up Brockman throughout the night. Brockman claims he missed dozens of attempted phone calls (his ringer was off).

After the Husky victory, which clinched the Pac-10 championship, Brockman posted the phone number of the Cougar fan on his Twitter, a social networking site that allows users to provide short status updates. The message was simple enough.

‘Requesting all dawg fans to call [number] and tell him about the husky win......he called me 25 times last night.....let him have it!’

Brockman has more than 700 followers on Twitter (Pete Carroll, in comparison, has more than 2,800). They’ve called James Monsey, the Washington State fan, about 400 times so far. He clearly has a good sense of humor about the incident and told the Seattle Weekly that he is making a point of returning all the calls.

And what do Washington fans say when they hear back from Monsey? ‘They’re just like, ‘Uh, Jon Brockman told me to call.’’

The All Pac-10 star is taking his personal victory in stride. ‘I got a message from the guy and he said ‘well played, nice work,’’’ Brockman told the Seattle Times. ‘It was all in good fun, I guess.’’
