TEMPE, Ariz. -- Torii Hunter was knocked out of today’s exhibition game against the Colorado Rockies in the top of the first inning when a long drive hit by Jeff Baker hit the wall and caromed into Hunter’s nose. The Angels center fielder left the park for precautionary X-rays.

Hunter, already slowed this week by a sinus infection, made a leaping attempt for Baker’s drive before crashing into the wall. The ball fell for a two-run, inside-the-park home run.

Hunter crumpled on the warning track and remained on his back until the team’s medical staff arrived. Hunter was escorted from the field directly into the Angels clubhouse. We’ll have an update on his injury later today.
