TUCSON -- The Angels hit their first home run of the spring today, in the first inning. The Angels had been the only team in the major leagues without one.

Catcher Jeff Mathis hit the home run, ending the Angels’ streak of 168 at-bats without one.

Mathis had nine home runs last season. Mike Napoli hit 20, giving the Angels catchers 29 home runs in 510 at-bats.
