Manny Ramirez to start in LF Wednesday

PHOENIX -- Manny Ramirez is scheduled to start in left field Wednesday when the Dodgers visit the Milwaukee Brewers, according to Manager Joe Torre.
‘We will certainly encourage him to measure what he does,’ Torre said. ‘Let the ball go to the wall if you have to.’
A few other notes:

  • Matt Kemp returned to Los Angeles get new contact lenses. He’s expected back on Wednesday.
  • Chad Billingsley threw on flat ground without any problems.
  • Jonathan Broxton, Hong-Chih Kuo and Cory Wade will pitch in the game tonight, which will be started by Clayton Kershaw.
  • Mark Loretta is expected to be sidelined for 4-5 days.
  • Jason Schmidt said he was ‘more optimistic’ after his minor league start this morning even though he was hit hard. ‘I felt free and easy today,’ he said.
