Dodgers pregame notes: Schmidt and Kuo to make Cactus League debuts on Monday; Koufax visits

PHOENIX -- Jason Schmidt will make his Cactus League debut on Monday when the Dodgers visit the Texas Rangers in Surprise. Schmidt is scheduled to pitch an inning, according to Manager Joe Torre.

Also pitching in a game for the first time this spring will be left-hander Hong-Chih Kuo, who is penciled in for an inning in the Dodgers’ ‘B’ game on Monday morning against the Chicago White Sox.

The Dodgers made two more cuts today, sending pitchers Carmen Cali and Edgar Martinez to minor-league camp.

Clayton Kershaw, James McDonald and Scott Elbert will pitch in the Dodgers’ game against the White Sox today at Camelback Ranch.

Sandy Koufax is visiting the Dodgers today.
