Normally when a stormy period ends, the clouds are supposed to part. So why did it start pouring as soon as Manny Ramirez reached a deal with the Dodgers?

Perhaps this Milli Vanilli moment really is brought to you by Man-Ram, who never participated in the classic Red Sox rainout video (above) even though he had the hair for it. Hopefully Scott Boras included that in his new contract (‘I’m Manny, you’re Vanilli’).

Today’s rain actually had an impact on local sports teams. UCLA canceled an exhibition baseball game against Keio University. Don’t expect them to reschedule later this year -- Keio is located in Japan. The Bruins were also scheduled to play softball at Loyola Marymount until the fields got too wet.

USC and UCLA tennis officials are both keeping an eye on the sky, as their crosstown rivalry games are scheduled for this afternoon (women at UCLA, men at USC).

Trivia Time: There is one sport you can play in the rain, provided you’re a priest willing to curse god. That’s right, ‘Caddyshack’ fans! Did you know that the best women’s golf teams are all in the Pac-10? Arizona State is ranked No. 1 in the country, followed by UCLA and defending national champion USC.
