TUCSON -- Catcher Jeff Mathis hit two home runs and infielder Brandon Wood added another, powering the Angels to a 12-3 victory over the Rockies. Mathis and Wood each drove in three runs, with outfielder Adam Pavkovich hitting three doubles and driving in four runs.

The Angels had not hit a home run in their first five spring games and entered the day as the only major league team without one.

Angels ace John Lackey made his spring debut, pitching two perfect innings. He was so efficient he had to throw an additional 10 pitches in the bullpen to hit his target of 35 pitches.

The Rockies (0-6) are the only major league team without a win this spring.

The Angels have no game scheduled on Tuesday. They’ll work out and play an intrasquad game, then resume the exhibition schedule on Wednesday, against the South Africa entry in the World Baseball Classic.
