I’ve confirmed that Los Angeles Cathedral receiver Randall Carroll has chosen UCLA as his college choice.

It puts the final touch on a day to remember for the Bruins. Not since the 1990s has a Bruins program succeeded in landing as many late-deciding top recruits as Coach Rick Neuheisel and his staff did today.

It’s the second time in a month that UCLA took away a USC commit. In January, tight end Morrell Presley from Carson enrolled at UCLA after being a longtime USC commit. Now Carroll, the fastest teenager in California, will join him at UCLA after being committed to USC for more than a year. He was scheduled to make his announcement on FSN Prime Ticket at 6:30 p.m. (tape delay).

Carroll is the reigning 100- and 200-meter state track champion. USC wanted Carroll to play cornerback. UCLA wanted him at receiver, and that’s what probably won out.
