It has been days -- feels like weeks, almost -- since the last Chris Kaman rumor. Life didn’t feel quite right until this morning when NBA.com had a line saying the Clippers were ‘determined’ to move him and the heavy load of his contract, the remaining three years and $33.9 million.

Determined?

We’ll get back to that. In checking out the latest, it did lead to some interesting information. If indeed the Clippers were determined to showcase the injured Kaman and trade him, he would be pushed back into action before the trading deadline, which is Feb. 19.

You would see him show up in the lineup at Phoenix on Feb. 17 or at Staples Center against the Suns a day later.

This morning I was told that the scheduled plan is to have him return in the week after the trade deadline, possibly as late as Feb. 27 at Sacramento or at home against Charlotte on Feb. 28.

So can it be said, unequivocally, that the Clippers won’t trade him? No.

In these chaotic economic times, you can’t rule out anything. Still, that remains a long, long way from ‘determined.’
