Record-setting cyclist Lance Armstrong was in San Diego on Tuesday for some wind-tunnel testing. Armstrong, who is making a cycling comeback after a three-year retirement, has hinted of his own interest in running for political office some day.

Armstrong was asked if he had voted in the election since he is registered in Austin, Texas. Armstrong said he had taken advantage of early voting last week, knowing that he’d be away from home on Election Day.

It took a couple of seconds after the question before there was a follow up asking Armstrong who he voted for.

‘I was afraid you wouldn’t ask,’ Armstrong said. ‘I voted for one of the two guys.’

We assume this means neither Bob Barr nor Ralph Nader got Armstrong’s vote.

Armstrong did have John McCain speak at his Lance Armstrong Livestrong Foundation fundraising summit last summer.

And the Times’ own Top of the Ticket reported how Barack Obama had missed a couple of Armstrong foundation fundraisers where other presidential candidates had appeared.

On the other hand Armstrong has asked advice from 2004 Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. Kerry was a prominent Armstrong supporter at the 2005 Tour de France.
