John Robinson didn’t cast a vote for Notre Dame in the Sporting News’ Legends Poll, but he does give a vote of confidence to the team’s beleaguered coach, Charlie Weis.

And Weis gave a vote of confidence to his team.

‘We’re decent,’’ he said.

Meaning, probably, that they go to chapel.

The 17 former coaches participating in the Legends Poll this week voted Alabama No. 1, Florida No. 2, Oklahoma No. 3, Texas No. 4 and USC No. 5.

Former Stanford coach John Ralston is the only coach to vote USC higher than fifth. He has the Trojans fourth, one spot ahead of Penn State and two spots ahead of Texas.
