Was it something Kevin Harvick said?

Harvick and rival NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Carl Edwards argued and scuffled today in the garage at Lowe’s Motor Speedway near Charlotte, N.C., site of the next Cup race Saturday night, the Associated Press reported witnesses as saying.

At one point Harvick shoved Edwards, who stumbled onto the hood of Harvick’s car, and the two had to be separated, the witnesses said.

The fight came four days after Edwards triggered a huge crash at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway that collected Harvick and 11 other cars. Edwards, who had been hanging near the back of the field most of the race, nudged the Ford of teammate Greg Biffle in the closing stages, sparking the accident.

That prompted the outspoken Harvick to say that Edwards had been ‘sitting back there riding around like a pansy,’ and that if Edwards ‘had been racing all day, maybe he would have known how long the front of his car was.’

Edwards confirmed the two argued but wouldn’t get into the details.

Harvick, who was unavailable for comment, knows a thing or two about NASCAR brawls. In the summer of 2007, for instance, he got into a shoving match with Juan Pablo Montoya after the two crashed at Watkins Glen, N.Y.
