Last call: Dodgers, Loney, and is that other local baseball team still playing?

How the Dodgers’ Game 2 lineup has fared against the Cubs’ Carlos Zambrano:

Rafael Furcal: .130 (3-23, 1 2B)

Russell Martin: .615 (8-13, 1 HR, 4 RBIs)

Manny Ramirez: .000 (0-3, 2 strikeouts)

Andre Ethier: .462 (6-13, 1 2B)

James Loney: .273 (3-11)

Matt Kemp: .500 (3-6, 1 HR, 3 RBIs)

Blake DeWitt: .250 (1-4)

Casey Blake: has never faced Zambrano

After James Loney hit his grand slam in the fifth inning, the Wrigley Field crowd became silent, and you could hear the Dodgers celebrating, prompting colleague Jim Barrero to say something that is very true: ‘There are few things that sound better than a dugout celebrating in the complete silence of a visiting Stadium.’

He’s a total pro and would probably never complain, but you have to wonder how Greg Maddux feels deep down about coming in to a 7-2 game in the ninth inning.

By the way, the best part of the regular season being over? No more of these stupid commericials:

Apparently, the other local baseball team is playing in the playoffs too. But no one is really talking about them, so it’s no big deal. They do apparently have some annoying closer who points to the sky after every almost-blown save (which describes almost all of his saves). Something that, if it was done by Mariano Rivera, would cause outrage among Angels fans. But it’s OK if your guy does it.

Vladimir Guerrero makes Matt Kemp look like a baserunning genius. And was that Gary Matthews Jr. in right field for the Angels, or former Dodger Billy Ashley?

Car flags counted while driving around today: Dodgers 12. Angels 0.
