Boston ace Josh Beckett just completed a bullpen session. He threw 64 pitches, an unusually high number, using fastballs and breaking balls.

It is uncertain whether Beckett will make his Game 3 start. He was scheduled to start Game 1, then the Red Sox scratched him because of what they said was a strained oblique muscle.

Beckett did not stop to talk with reporters on his way back into the clubhouse. Boston Manager Terry Francona and pitching coach John Farrell talked with Beckett in the bullpen after the workout, then stayed there to talk some more after Beckett left.

If Beckett does not start Game 3, the Red Sox would use Paul Byrd or Tim Wakefield.
