Katie Couric’s talk show gets premiere date

Viewers can finally get to know Katie Couric on a first-name basis when her talk show, ‘Katie,’ premieres Monday, Sept. 10.

The live, daily talk show, distributed by Disney-ABC, is yet another show seeking to fill the void the end of Oprah Winfrey’s show left in daytime television. Couric’s show will mostly appear on ABC-affiliated stations and is envisioned as a single-topic show that will look at current events in a daytime-friendly way.

The 55-year-old TV personality has already begun making the rounds on ABC, where she is now a member of the news team. Her talk-show gig follows a five-year stint at CBS, where she served as the first solo female anchor of a network evening news broadcast; she departed her post on the ‘CBS Evening News’ last May. Prior to that she had a 15-year run as cohost of morning news top dog ‘Today’ on NBC.

‘Katie’ is executive produced by Couric and her former ‘Today’ boss (and former NBCUniversal chief) Jeff Zucker.
