The new channel, which began as a daily programming block on Disney Channel back in 2010, attempts to impart social values in its preschool programming. The unveiling will come at midnight.

Geared toward children ages 2-7, the channel will be anchored by new series “Doc McStuffins,” and already established “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” and “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,’ plus “The Magical World of Disney Junior” -- to name a few. Also among its programming slate are movies: “Toy Story 2,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “The Princess and the Frog.”

As we reported last year, Disney executives hope the move will boost viewership among the younger demographic against competitors Nickelodeon and PBS.

For the record, 12:55 p.m. March 22: SoapNet will not being going off air just yet, as we originally stated, according to a Disney spokesperson.Though that was the initial intention when Disney Junior’s 24/7 channel was conceived, SoapNet will still be available for an undetermined period of time as deals are finalized with distributors.
