Super Bowl 2012 on NBC is most-watched program in TV history
Let's call it a record after all.
After looking down a bit compared with last year in the early ratings, Sunday's Super Bowl on NBC between the Giants and the Patriots ran for another record. An average of 111.3 million total viewers tuned in, making it the most-watched TV program in history.
Yes, bigger than the finale of "MASH." (Ask your parents.) Bigger than the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. (Ask your grandparents.) And bigger than last year's Super Bowl, which averaged 111 million.
This furthers a string of records for the NFL championship game, which has become far and away the year's biggest TV event.
