Lindsay Lohan starts comeback trail with 'Saturday Night Live'

February 20, 2012 | 10:54 am

Lindsay Lohan will host "SNL" March 3.

It appears Lindsay Lohan is taking some positive steps to boost her struggling career that don't involve taking her clothes off for Playboy. First stop: "Saturday Night Live." The actress will be hosting the show's March 3 episode.

Although Lohan is still doing community service as part of her probation, it's on track to end in late March, according to a Superior Court judge. And in an attempt to remind people that she's an actress first, she's returning to the stage of Studio 8-H for her fourth time as host.

Lohan seems very excited about the return to network TV (in something that isn't the news). She and her mother, Dina, have both tweeted about it, writing, "SNL! I love @NBC !!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Lohan has even gone so far as to beg Alec Baldwin to make a walk-on appearance on her episode. Baldwin currently holds the record for hosting more episode of "SNL" than any other celebrity (16 times).

Her first apperance on the long-running comedy show was in 2004, when she was still hot from her starring role in the movie "Mean Girls." Her most recent film appearance was in director Robert Rodriguez's 2010 action flick "Machete."

In recent years, she's made more court appearances than movies, with a series of hearings stemming from a 2007 DUI conviction and a 2011 theft conviction.
