Golden Globes: Matt LeBlanc not friends with 'Downton Abbey'

January 15, 2012 |  9:10 pm

Matt leblanc
Dowager Countess of Grantham, clutch your cane in horror: Matt LeBlanc hasn't seen Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning “Downton Abbey.”

The actor, who took home the award for actor in a TV comedy or musical for playing a version of himself in Showtime’s “Episodes,” confessed as much backstage.

But we’ll forgive him if for no other reason than resurrecting a Joey (the character he played on the long-running “Friends”) staple: “How you doin’” when prompted by a reporter.

And though he might be playing himself on the series, LeBlanc wants people to realize it’s fiction.

“I would like to say Matt LeBlanc in real life is less damaged than the Matt LeBlanc on the show," he said. "I’d like to think I have less emotional problems.”

Sure, but what about Joey? Any chance of a “Friends” movie?

“I don’t see that happening,” said the actor, whose hair is more salt than pepper. “You know how they say the book is always better than the movie? Your imagination as to what these characters have done with their lives is going to do more justice to the characters than us putting them back in a room together.”

We'll be there for you, if you ever do!
