 The team travels to Rome to investigate the death of Pope John Paul I (10 p.m. History).

Toddlers & Tiaras:
Three girls and their moms, who are also their coaches, vie for top pageant honors in Hot Springs, Ark., in the new episode (10 p.m. TLC).

Hot in Cleveland:  
The ladies throw a dinner party in this new episode (10 p.m. TV Land).

The Exes:
 Stuart’s work life is turned upside down when Phil sleeps with his dental assistant in this new episode (10:30 p.m. TV Land).


Extreme Cheapskates:
“Extreme Couponing” was just the beginning. This new special profiles people who have come up with all kinds of ways to save more and spend less, from hunting down great deals to innovative recycling and reusing of things they already have (9 and 11 p.m. TLC).

Felipe Esparza: They’re Not Going to Laugh at You: The Season 7 winner of “Last Comic Standing,” performs in his first solo stand-up special (10 p.m. Showtime).


Funny People:
 In this 2009 comedy, Adam Sandler plays a successful comic who learns he has only a limited time left to live and hires an admirer (Seth Rogen) as his assistant and protege. The supporting cast includes Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill (“Superbad”), Jason Schwartzman (“Bored to Death”) and, as themselves, Ray Romano, Paul Reiser, Norm Macdonald and Sarah Silverman (8 p.m. USA).


College football:
Military Bowl: Air Force vs. Toledo (1:30 p.m. ESPN); Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl: California vs. Texas (5 p.m. ESPN).

College basketball:
Georgetown at Louisville (4 p.m. ESPN2); Baylor vs. Mississippi State (6 p.m. ESPN2).

Hockey: The New York Rangers visit the Washington Capitals (4:30 p.m. VS); the Kings visit the Blackhawks (5:30 p.m. FSN).

Pro basketball:
The Clippers visit the San Antonio Spurs (5:30 p.m. FS Prime).
