‘Game of Thrones’ may not be returning to HBO until April, but the pay channel is smart enough to keep fans reminded of why they’re paying that extra fee month after month. Five months away from the premiere, HBO is giving us the first look at the new season, based on the second book in George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series, ‘A Clash of Kings.’

In addition to glimpses of fan favorites such as Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), the two-minute ‘In Production’ short also provides the first images of new characters Stannis Baratheon (brother of Robert Baratheon), played by Stephen Dillane, and his mysterious and magical advisor Melisandre, played by Carice van Houten, among others.

The second season filmed in Croatia, Ireland and Iceland, which will stand in for the great snowy land north of the Wall.
