Will Arnett paid a visit to ‘Late Night’ on Tuesday to promote his new NBC sitcom, ‘Up All Night,’ but the talk quickly turned to this weekend’s Emmy Awards, with Arnett’s wife, Amy Poehler, once again nominated for her work on ‘Parks and Recreation.’

Arnett, who was also nominated this year for his guest appearance on ’30 Rock’ but lost to Justin Timberlake, joked, ‘I’ve lost a lot, as you know. It’s a house full of losers.’

Maybe it’s just a case of karma?

A few years back, Arnett said, he was due to go to the Emmys but had other things on his mind: ‘Full disclosure, I had a bunch of guys over on a Sunday afternoon playing poker.’ So all-consuming was the game that, when the limo driver buzzed his door, Arnett wasn’t even dressed yet. ‘There was a lot of money on the table,’ he explained.

Arnett said that after throwing his tux on in a hurry, he ran outside and the driver, knowing that his client was in a hurry, opened the limo door for him. At that very moment, a woman rode her bike straight into the car door and, in Arnett’s words, ‘ate it.’

‘It was terrible, and I watched it all happen in slow-motion. I could have stopped it,’ he said. ‘By the way, the poker game is still going on inside the house.’

Did the woman survive? Did Arnett make it to the Emmys? You’ll have to watch to find out.
