My Cat From Hell: In this new episode cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy works with a man and his feline friend — who takes an instant dislike to his girlfriend (9 p.m. Animal Planet).

Saturday Night Live: Ed Helms hosts with musical guest Paul Simon (11:29 p.m. NBC).

Nick Cannon: Mr. Showbiz: Calling it a return to his roots, actor, recording artist and music producer Cannon takes to the stage in Las Vegas in this new special (9 p.m. Showtime).

East of Eden: James Dean illustrates why he shot to stardom during his short life in director Elia Kazan’s 1955 version of John Steinbeck’s novel (5 p.m. TCM).

How to Train Your Dragon: In this 2010 animated adaptation of the Cressida Cowell book, Jay Baruchel voices a young Viking-in-training who wants to impress his father (Gerard Butler). Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill and Christopher Mintz-Plasse also are heard (8 p.m. HBO).
