NO PAIN, NO WEIGHT LOSS: A woman who weighs nearly 400 pounds embarks on a one-year challenge in the premiere of the new series “Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition” at 10 p.m. on ABC.

SERIES

Basketball Wives: Season 3 of this unscripted series begins (8 p.m. VH1).

Breakout Kings: Carmen Vega (Lauren Velez) escapes while attending her son’s funeral in the season finale (10 p.m. A&E).

Platinum Hit: Jewel and Kara DioGuardi meet the 12 aspiring songwriters in this competition series (10 p.m. Bravo).

Khloe and Lamar: Khloe goes to the doctor in the season finale (10 p.m. E!).

Surprise Homecoming: Like the similarly themed Lifetime show “Coming Home,” this new series captures the reunions of military men and women with their loved ones after their tours of duty overseas. Billy Ray Cyrus hosts (10 p.m. TLC).

The Hard Times of RJ Berger: RJ faces off with Max Owens for the title of “Mr. Pinkerton” in the season finale (10:30 p.m. MTV).

Finding Bigfoot: Members of the Bigfoot Field Research Organization are the subject of this new series (11 p.m. Animal Planet).

SPECIALS

Gettysburg: The cable channel kicks off its weeklong commemoration of the Civil War’s 150th anniversary with this new two-hour special, which uses Lincoln’s Gettysburg address to frame its stories (9 p.m. History).

Single Ladies: If “Sex and the City” were set in Atlanta with a more racially diverse cast, it would be this new comedy-drama, which stars Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea as friends helping one another navigate the murky waters of love and relationships (9 p.m. VH1).
