A network could get used to this.

Continuing its ratings dynasty among young adults, Fox won the 2010-11 season in the key advertising category of viewers age 18 to 49. The victory came thanks largely to ‘American Idol’ plus Super Bowl XLV, the most-watched program in TV history, according to the Nielsen Co.

The network averaged a 3.5 rating/10 share, trailed by CBS (2.9 rating/8 share), ABC (2.5 rating/7 share) and NBC (2.3 rating/6 share).

Meanwhile, CBS remained the most-watched network overall, averaging 11.6 million viewers, compared with 9.7 million for Fox. Lagging behind were ABC (8.5 million) and NBC (7 million).

One sour note amid all the data: Every broadcaster recorded ratings declines, with some of the biggest drops among young viewers. NBC suffered the worst fall, eroding 16% among total viewers.
