Et-lisgeonc-apr9 BRIEFLY: Comedian Colin Quinn reduces the history of the world down to an hour and a quarter's worth of material in his one-man Broadway show “Colin Quinn Long Story Short” at 10 p.m. on HBO. 


Being Human: Herrick (Jason Watkins) tries to pit George (Russell Tovey) against Mitchell (Aidan Turner), but Tom (Michael Socha) foils that plan in the season finale of the supernatural drama (6 and 9 p.m. BBC America). 

Cats 101: The Serengeti — not the plain in Africa, but the breed of cat — is profiled in this new episode (10 p.m. Animal Planet). 

Saturday Night Live: Helen Mirren with musical guests Foo Fighters (11:29 p.m. NBC). 


Prince William & Catherine: A Royal Love Story: This new two-part special chronicles the relationship of the betrothed royal couple (8 p.m. OWN). Concludes Thursday.

Let's Talk About Sex: This new special examines American youths' attitudes toward sex and the difference between Europe's and America's adolescent sexuality (10 p.m. TLC). 


Splendor in the Grass: Pulitzer Prize-winning writer William Inge wrote this 1961 drama starring Natalie Wood as a nice girl driven insane by thwarted love and sexual repression in 1920s Kansas. Warren Beatty, Pat Hingle, Jan Norris and Sandy Dennis also star (5 p.m. TCM). 

Ferocious Planet: A machine designed to let people see into alternate universes transports a group of observers into one of those universes. John Rhys-Davies and Joe Flanigan star in this new sci-fi chiller (9 p.m. Syfy). 


Baseball: The New York Yankees visit the Boston Red Sox (10 a.m. Fox); the Dodgers visit the San Diego Padres (5:30 p.m. KCAL); the Toronto Blue Jays visit the Angels (6 p.m. MyNet). 

College hockey: NCAA final (4 p.m. ESPN). 

Soccer: The Galaxy visit the D.C. United (4:30 p.m. FSN). 

Basketball: The Clippers visit the Houston Rockets (5:30 p.m. FS Prime).
