George Lopez has apologized for referring to Kirstie Alley as a pig.

‘I misjudged the joke,’ the host of TBS’ ‘Lopez Tonight’ tweeted Thursday. ‘No malice was intended and I apologize to Kirstie.’

On his Tuesday show, Lopez offered a recap of ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars’ premiere. He showed a clip of Alley -- the former ‘Fat Actress’ star who’s publicly battled weight problems -- and then joked: ‘She did a nice job, her little hooves tapping away. Before the show she went to the market, and then she had roast beef, and this is her going all the way home.’ This was followed by a clip of a squealing pig from a recent Geico spot.

The joke was sharply criticized by several women’s groups, who felt it sent a bad message when Alley has been open about her weight problems.

Alley herself seemed unfazed by the controversy, tweeting Thursday: ‘Don’t worry about George’s comments... just remember what happens to the big bad, drunk woolf...falls in a boiling pot of vodka. Piggy laughs.’ No word on whether she accepted Lopez’s apology.

Lopez is the latest comic to have apologized after ruffling cultural sensitivites. Gilbert Gottfried was recently dumped as the voice of the Aflac insurance duck after joking about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Show Trackers, was Lopez right to apologize, or are critics just being too sensitive?
