The lights keep getting brighter for the young guidos and guidettes on ‘Jersey Shore.’

Thursday’s Season 3 premiere of MTV’s reality soap scored 8.4 million total viewers, up 62% compared with last season’s opener, according to the Nielsen Co. That made it the network’s most-watched series telecast ever.

The news puts to rest any notion that Snooki and friends may have peaked. ‘Jersey Shore’s’ ratings have been steadily climbing since it premiered in December 2009, when just 1.4 million tuned in. The Season 2 rollout in July averaged 5.2 million viewers.
