Va-va-va voom!

Who needs ‘makeover’ week when you look like Jessica!

Jessica was eliminated this week, just shy of makeover week, which may be the second-favorite episode for ‘Biggest Loser’ fans. (The finale being the must-watch episode of the season, of course.) So what did she do? Got her own makeover. And boy, did it pay off.

But there was more. She did the hard work to unravel her complicated relationship with her mother, and found herself at the ranch. She told the other players not to feel bad about her elimination, she already achieved what she wanted: ‘I came here to learn and figure what was going on in my head out. I’m going to be OK, I’m fine.’

The elimination seemed to be a foregone conclusion once it was clear that Jessica would be below the yellow line with Elizabeth. (Does Elizabeth hold the record yet for times below the yellow line?) Brendan and Frado just won’t vote for Elizabeth at this point in the game, they’ve got her back. It all capped a week in which the group has solidified once more, with the ‘we’re all in this together’ and ‘I love you like a sister’ stuff that is usually reserved for the first few weeks on campus, not the final few weeks, and especially not when they’re back to individual play.

So, how long can this last?

The lovey-dovey spirit was generated by the knowledge that everyone got videos from home, save Ada. What the heck is with that woman’s family? I know there may be cultural differences, but Bob said her parents were contacted several times. No videos ever arrived. So the players put together their own video for Ada. Does that rank as one of the best-ever moments in ‘Biggest Loser’ history? Oh, yes. (You know you were reaching for the Kleenex too, it wasn’t just me.)

Some random thoughts: Did you catch Brendan telling Ada that he can’t wait till this is all over so they can hang out? Love connection blooming there? And how about Jessica being so torn up over Jesse’s departure. Hmmm.....
