Oh, how a year can change things.

At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, the cast of ‘Jersey Shore’ had only just begun their ascent into the pop culture stratosphere. Now, in the midst of Season 2 of the popular reality show, it appears some of the guidos and guidettes think they’re too important to do interviews.

We were looking forward to chatting with the overly tan cast on the white carpet at the VMAs on Sunday, but were sadly snubbed by nearly every one of our favorites: Snooki, JWOWW, Pauly D., the Situation, Ronnie and Vinny.

Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ did live up to her name by stopping to chat for a second -- which we were excited about until her publicist informed us she wouldn’t be addressing her relationship with Ron. Um, are you kidding? We’re not supposed to ask her about the plot line that’s dominated nearly the entire season in Miami these last couple of weeks?

‘No comment,’ she said, laughing, when we asked if she would answer any questions about her on-again, off-again boyfriend. ‘You’re just gonna have to wait and see what really goes on with the relationship.’

She was more forthcoming about Snooki’s recent arrest, in which the pint-sized guidette was castigated for her public drunkenness and compared by a judge to Lindsay Lohan.

‘I actually feel bad that Snooki had to go through something like that. That’s a difficult situation,’ Sammi said.

New cast member Deena Nicole -- the only other ‘Shore’ member who seemed press-friendly -- agreed.

‘That’s ridiculous,’ she said. ‘Snooki is beautiful inside and out. She has no bad bone in her body. And you know what? She had a little too much to drink and they blew it out of proportion. She is really a good girl.’
