Emmy-worthy reality-show hosts apparently spend some quality time thinking about shows, other than their own, that they’d like to emcee.

Ryan Seacrest, for example, says ‘American Idol’ is a little too polished and perfect for him. Where does he really belong? The Outback or another remote ‘Survivor’ location where he could ‘be in the wilderness for months eating bugs from a pan.’

Tom Bergeron, meanwhile, might consider leaving his ‘Dancing With the Stars’ gig for a certain travel/adventure series, if only he could change it to ‘The Amazing Saunter,’ so he wouldn’t have to bust a sweat. (He’s a mellow guy).

Over at Los Angeles Times’ The Envelope, these two get quizzed, along with ‘Big Brother’s’ Julie Chen and ‘Survivor’s’ Jeff Probst, to find out, as part of the run-up to the Emmy Awards, about their pre-show rituals (Chen’s all about food), TV idols (consensus on Johnny Carson) and ninja skills (handy for live TV!).

Emmy nominations will be announced July 8. Read more of the conversation with some of TV’s top reality-show hosts.
