Pilot View: CBS’ new comedy, ‘S#*! My Dad Says’

‘$#*! My Dad Says,’ which CBS insists reads as ‘Bleep My Dad Says,’ is a sitcom based on the popular Twitter feed by Justin Halpern that actually uses the expletive CBS is bleeping. Ed Goodson is a very opinionated dad who says politically incorrect things. Henry is his struggling writer-blogger son and Vince is a married realtor/henpecked husband to Kathleen. Because he’s broke, Henry moves in with his dad.
Who’s in it: William Shatner as Ed; Ryan Devlin (‘Cougar Town’) as Henry; Nicole Sullivan (‘Rita Rocks’) as Kathleen; Will Sasso (‘Mad TV’) as Vince.

Who made it: Halpern co-wrote the script with Patrick Schumacker, and it is executive produced by the ‘Will & Grace’ team of David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.

Thumbs up: Honestly, we’ve got nothing.

Thumbs down: Because the Twitter feed is indeed funny and Shatner seemed like a perfect choice, we were looking forward to this one. But 140 characters of Ed seems to be all we can take.

Verdict: Ouch.
