This week's TV Movies

Prime choices

Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd, the "Jim and Pam" of last season's "Big Brother," join 10 other teams for the latest cycle of the multi-Emmy-winning reality competition "The Amazing Race 16." Now if it was a cutest-couple contest . . . (CBS, 8 p.m.)

You think "bridezillas" are bad? Check out the "Momster of the Bride." She's the materfamilias wreaking havoc in the run-up to her daughter's big day in this new special. Here's hoping the wedding goes off without -- or rather, with -- a hitch. (Style, 9 p.m.)

The possibility -- some say probability -- of catastrophic levee failure causing Katrina-like flooding in our fair state's capital of Sacramento is just one of the watery scenarios considered on a new installment of "Life After People." (History, 10 p.m.)

"Solving History With Olly Steeds" (above) goes in search of "The Amber Room" -- a dazzling set of decorative wall panels -- looted from a Russian palace by the Nazis during WWII, never to be seen again. (10 p.m.Discovery)

It's kilt or be kilt as Internet oddsmaker Brandon Lang heads to Edinburgh to handicap the action at Scotland's Highland Games in the debut installment of "Brandon Bets the World." Where's Angus Podgorny when you need him? (Travel, 11 p.m.)

If Ricky Gervais ("Extras") seems a bit more animated in his latest series, that's because he is. "The Ricky Gervais Show" features cartoon versions of the British comic and his cronies riffing on a variety of obscure and often off-color topics. (HBO, 9 p.m.)

The specter of the Nazi era haunted postwar Germany. Exhibit A: The 2008 tale "The Reader," starring Oscar winner Kate Winslet. Exhibit B: The 2008 docudrama "The Baader Meinhof Complex," about the notorious terrorist cell. (Showtime, 9 and 11:05 p.m.)

TV Guests

Remember "Blossom"? "The Breakfast Club"? Well, the former's Mayim Bialik guest stars on a new episode of " 'Til Death," and the latter's Judd Nelson guests on a new "Psych." They grow up so fast. (Fox, 7:30 p.m. Sun.; USA, 10 p.m. Wed.)

Add it up

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the special "Sextistics: Your Love Life" crunches the numbers on romance and relationships and then demonstrates said demographics with a variety of clever stunts. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways . . . (TLC, 9 p.m. Sun.)
