The Coco Revolution is happening as we speak.

Two hours ago, Conan O’Brien apparently decided to follow in the footsteps of the former governor of Alaska and decided to join Twitter.

‘Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me,’ his first tweet went.

Twitter lists the @conanobrien page as a ‘verified account,’ and his buddy and former blogger, Aaron Bleyaert, also stood up for it on his twitter page. The bio also offers some support: ‘I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account.’

The Times attempted to reach O’Brien’s publicist for further confirmation, but then we noticed while waiting for the return e-mail that in the span of 49 minutes, 33,000 more people had signed up to follow the red-headed man affectionately known as Coco. Not to mention that it had more than doubled the number of followers for ‘The Jay Leno Show’ page.

In fact, in the two hours since the tweet was posted, the recently departed and increasingly popular ‘Tonight Show’ host gained over 78,000 followers and, so far, has not returned the favor.

Coco follows no one. This is just the beginning.
