Everyone’s favorite fictional housewife of Orange County is joining Sean Faris and Mia Kirshner as the latest new addition to the ‘Vampire Diaries’ cast.

It seems Clarke will be doing what she does best: playing a bad mom. As Julie Cooper-Nichol on ‘The O.C.’ she slept with her daughter’s ex-boyfriend, married her best friend’s father, contemplated killing her husband ... the list goes on.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Clarke will arrive in Mystic Falls as Matt Donovan’s mommy dearest, Kelly. She’s finally found time to drop in, weeks after her daughter Vicki’s mysterious disappearance and death.

Despite her previous absence, she’ll be stirring up some drama for at least three episodes.

Poor Matt; the resident ‘Vampire Diaries’ good boy just can’t seem to catch a break.

This is my favorite bit of casting news so far! Are you as excited as I am for the latest development, or is Melinda Clarke not your ideal choice? What do you think Kelly’s arrival means for Matt? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, and don’t forget to check back in a few days for even more ‘Vampire Diaries’ news from the TCA Press Tour.
