Andre Braugher, Ray Romano and Scott Bakula are ‘Men of a Certain Age’ in this new sitcom that seeks humor in the indignities of male fortysomethingness. Our alternate title: ‘Homicide: Everybody Leap.’ (TNT, 10 p.m.)

TUESDAY

The new sci-fi series ‘Outer Space Astronauts’ mixes live action with computer animation as it follows the comic misadventures of the crew of the O.S.S. Oklahoma. Stephen Millunzi, Adam Clinton and Jacey Margolis star. (Syfy, 9:30 and 11 p.m.)

WEDNESDAY

The second-season premiere of Elvis Costello’s music-and-chat show ‘Spectacle’ features the bespectacled singer-songwriter in conversation -- and performance -- with U2’s the Edge (above left) and Bono. (Sundance, 10 p.m.)

THURSDAY

The lovely and talented Zooey Deschanel (‘[500] Days of Summer’) guest stars on a new episode of big sister Emily’s forensics drama ‘Bones,’ playing the title character’s long-lost cousin in the first on-screen pairing of the actress siblings. (Fox, 8 p.m.)

FRIDAY

Neil Patrick Harris and Jennifer Love Hewitt lend their voices to the new animated special ‘Yes, Virginia’ (below), which retells the tale of a newspaper editor’s response to a little girl’s letter seeking confirmation of the existence of jolly old St. Nick. (CBS, 8 p.m.)

SATURDAY

Put the controller down and give your thumbs a break while you watch ‘Spike TV’s Video Game Awards 2009.’ You’ll see sneak peeks of some sure-to-be-hot titles, and you just might get an idea or two for your Christmas wish list. (Spike, 8 p.m.)

‘Clash of the Dinosaurs’ on Discovery

The new four-part special ‘Clash of the Dinosaurs’ uses computer imaging to examine the physiology of such long-extinct ‘thunder lizards’ as the fearsome Tyrannosaurus rex. Concludes next Sunday. (Discovery, 8 and 9 p.m. Sun.)

‘Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special’ features the chart-topping country cutie singing a mix of her hits and seasonal favorites alongside guests Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley and fellow ‘American Idol’ winner David Cook. (Fox, 8 p.m. Mon.)

‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’

‘Wedding Crashers’ ’ Isla Fisher (right) is a conspicuous consumer with a passion for fashion in the 2009 romantic comedy ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic,’ based on the popular novel. John Goodman, Joan Cusack and Hugh Dancy also star. (Starz, 9 p.m. Sat.)
