American Masters: ‘Joan Baez: How Sweet the Sound’ chronicles the private life and the public career of the folk-singing recording artist and political activist. Filmed during her 2008-09 world tour, the program features interviews with Bob Dylan, David Crosby, Roger McGuinn, Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt, among other artists. (8 p.m. KCET).

Full Color Football: The History of the American Football League: The premiere of this series looks at the early days of the AFL through the stories of eyewitnesses, including John Madden, Dan Rather, Larry King, Tim Russert, Hank Stram and Jim Brown (8 p.m. Showtime).

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: After a night of heavy drinking, a man (Scott Foley) wakes up with a head injury and a dead woman in his bed he doesn’t recognize. Detectives Benson and Stabler (Mariska Hargitay, Christopher Meloni) try to piece together the crime by returning to the bar where the night began. Richard Belzer also stars (9 p.m. NBC).

MythBusters: Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage devote an episode to myths surrounding duct tape (9 p.m. Discovery).

Top Chef: Las Vegas: The remaining chefs visit the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino to scope out chef and guest judge Charlie Palmer’s Aureole restaurant, noted for its extensive wine collection (10 p.m. Bravo).
