Stargate Universe: An impressive -- and impressively eclectic -- cast headed by Robert Carlyle, Ming-Na and Lou Diamond Phillips bolsters this latest entry in the ‘Stargate’ franchise, this one built around a group of soldiers, scientists and civilians who find themselves stranded on a massive ancient ship in the series premiere (9 p.m. SyFy).

Wedded to Perfection: Wedding planners concoct an over-the-top gala that involves dealing with five different spaces to design, a Pop art theme, a fussy bride and her very involved mother in the premiere of the new series (10 p.m. TLC).

MOVIES

Rear Window: One of Alfred Hitchcock’s most memorable, this 1954 film stars James Stewart as a photographer restricted to a wheelchair because of a broken leg, who keeps an eye on his neighbors from his apartment -- and comes to believe that one of them (Raymond Burr) is a murderer. Grace Kelly and Thelma Ritter also appear (6 p.m. TCM).

Forrest Gump: Tom Hanks, who won the lead actor Oscar the previous year for ‘Philadelphia,’ became the second actor to win it two years in a row (Spencer Tracy was the first) for his work in this 1994 comedy-drama. Gary Sinise and Robin Wright also star (7 p.m. Spike).
