Neil Patrick Harris signs on to guest judge 'American Idol'

Up next to judge "American Idol"? Neil Patrick Harris.

Fox confirmed that Harris, who will host the Emmys next month and stars in "How I Met Your Mother," sat at the judges' table to help weigh in on the singers during today's Dallas auditions.

He joins a guest judge lineup that includes Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Joe Jonas and Kelly Clarkson.
