Will Brittany Snow be ‘Gossip Girl’s’ new Lily?

Zap2It’s Korbi Ghosh is reporting that ‘Hairspray’s’ Brittany Snow has been offered the lead role in the upcoming ‘Gossip Girl’ spinoff, which is set to debut in May, although she notes that the deal is not yet 100% official.
The spinoff will be set in the ‘80s and follow the mother of Serena and Eric van der Woodsen, Lily Rhodes (her maiden name). The series will capture Lily in her wild days, decades before she became Lily van der Woodsen (‘Gossip’s’ Kelly Rutherford).
Writes Korbi, ‘Now comes word that ‘Hairspray’ star and ‘American Dreams’ alum Brittany Snow has been offered the lead role of young Lily. Sources surrounding the project say the-powers-that-be are currently negotiating with Brittany, and though her deal is not yet done, things are looking good.’
Earlier, Show Tracker reported that Krysten Ritter (‘Veronica Mars,’ ‘Gilmore Girls’) had signed on. She will play Lily van der Woodsen’s older sister and black sheep of the family, Carol Rhodes. The pilot for the spinoff, which is set in California, airs on the May 11 episode of ‘Gossip Girl.’
