NBC round-table: Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams and a crying Lester Holt

The NBC round-table conversation has been mercifully restrained and unindulgent. In the moments after the inauguration, Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams and Lester Holt discussed Barack Obama’s speech and how serious it was.

Holt had been the most moved by it, or perhaps by the historic spectacle of an African American becoming president. His voice broke up as he described how older black people thought they never would live to see this day -- but that he had. (Holt and Obama are two years apart in age, he said.)
