Heidi and Spencer to guest star on ‘How I Met Your Mother’

When we first heard Britney Spears was guest-starring on ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ our mouths hung open. Then when we learned the pop star was reprising the role, we gasped.

But now we just don’t know what to do with ourselves. A little birdie confirms that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt of ‘The Hills’ are guest-starring in one episode of the CBS comedy. And they are playing themselves, sort of.

In the episode, Marshall (Jason Segel) will desperately look for a place to ‘read a magazine’ in his office while Montag and Pratt, playing magazine cover-versions of themselves, will taunt him from the confines of Marshall’s copy of ‘Them Weekly.’

The couple will film their scenes this week on the Fox lot, and the episode will air in January.

We are pretty sure that Heidi is not The Mother.
