‘Project Runway’: Kenley has had enough of Heidi’s ‘nonsense’

Just as I had finally resigned myself to Blayne Walsh’s reign of terrorliciousness, he was gone in an instant, back to candyland or wherever it was he hailed from. The funny thing is, though, the very day that I actually saw the word ‘salsalicious!’ printed on fliers at my gym (thereby affirming Blayne’s impact on the world) was the same day I was ready to see him scoot by. Yes, his outfit for the Zodiac challenge (which was kind of a ripoff of an ‘America’s Next Top Model’ episode from a few seasons ago) was, as Michael Kors put it, a fashion joke. It was repulsive! The poor model looked like she was wearing a fat clown’s suit on one side and dirty long underwear on the other. But Blayne by far didn’t annoy me as much as Terri Stevens and Kenley Collins did.

Terri finally got her comeuppance. Her negative attitude had been bothering me for a few episodes, despite her resemblance to Jackie Warner on Bravo’s ‘Workout,’ but in tonight’s episode she was over the top. She was angry about the eliminated contestants being brought back for a challenge, she was mad about having to work with Keith, she was mad about him not speaking up and mad about him speaking up. She was mad about him offering to help and mad when he walked away. Her Leo-inspired outfit wasn’t that horrible to me but it was just bad enough that, combined with her attitude, it was time for her to go.

Kenley’s been out of control the last two episodes. Her backtalk to the judges last week was irritating and this week it was downright rude and condescending. Note: Do not tell Michael Kors that you don’t follow collections. That’s like applying for a job at a publishing company and saying ‘I don’t read.’ She cried bs (literally) when the judges questioned her take on the challenge and her knowledge of the term ‘avant-garde.’ Gee, wouldn’t you love to have her design a dress for you?

Even though the challenge seemed a little weak to me (and I would have loved to have more of the former contestants -- Christian Siriano, Jay McCarroll, Kara Janx and the rest are all sorely missed) it did yield a few cool outfits. I was pleased that Joe Faris interpreted my sign, Aries, so flamingly, and it was nice to see Jerell Scott win a challenge for his interesting take on Sagittarius. But otherwise, the judges were crabby and I loved it. Poor Suede seems like a nice guy (and the work is clearly making him lose weight on the show) but Michael had had enough with his third-person routine, proclaiming him ‘delusional.’ For some reason, while I can’t stand the cattiness when it comes from the contestants, I love it when it comes from the judges.
