The CW earned some buzz (and raised some eyebrows) with last season’s post-strike ‘OMG’ ads, and they’re hoping to do it again when ‘Gossip Girl’ returns Sept. 1. The new ads, like the previous campaign, takes snapshots of steamy scenes from Season 1, but the ‘OMG’s’ have been replaced by quotes such as ‘Mind-blowingly inappropriate’ and ‘A nasty piece of work’ from the Boston Herald and the Parents Television Council among others. The CW won’t comment on the upcoming ad campaign, which debuts Aug. 1, but I think it may be another stroke of genius for building buzz around Season 2. Way to turn a negative into a positive!

From the looks of these promos, Season 2 aims to be hotter than the first (really, who won’t watch an episode with Nate running half-naked across the street?) so perhaps these ads are actually mind-blowingly appropriate. What do you think? Will these ads help or hurt the show?
