The CW show has just finished its first season and there’s already talk of a spinoff. Alloy Entertainment, owners of the ‘Gossip Girl’ book series and co-producers of the TV show, are reportedly hoping to expand the series with a show following Jenny Humphrey, who, in the books, leaves Constance Billard for a boarding school. While I’m all for anything ‘Gossip Girl’ related, I wonder if Taylor Momsen, the actress who plays Jenny, can carry her own show without a Blair Waldorf-type character possibly overshadowing her. A potential spinoff may also influence story arcs in Season 2 --they’ll have to show how Jenny gets sent off to boarding school, right? It remains to be seen if the spinoff ever leaves the ground, but even if it does, is there room in the CW for yet another teen drama?

Update: Executive producer Josh Schwartz denies the spinoff. Season 2 will have to prove itself first.
