At the Walt Disney Co.’s Burbank headquarters, WGA organizers handed out lyrics to pro-union songs. Some were chants suitable for any striking workers:

Who’s got the power? We got the powerWhat kind of power?Union power!

But several were more specifically targeted at Hollywood studios and television broadcasters:

Network bosses, rich and rudeWe don’t like your attitude!

And:

Working writersUnder attackWhat do we do?Stand up! Fight back!

The Disney pickets attracted several hundred striking writers, including top creative people from some of Disney’s and ABC’s most popular (and profitable) shows, including ‘Lost’ and ‘Hannah Montana.’ Said Carlton Cuse, a writer and executive producer on ‘Lost’ and a member of the WGA’s negotiating committee: ‘I have never seen the guild this united.’

Local police also were well-organized, and numerous motorcycle officers were on hand to make sure WGA members did not block the Alameda Avenue and Buena Vista Street entrances to Disney’s studio. By 9 a.m., the police had already cited at least one writer -- for jaywalking.
